You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no
truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

Lies seem to be accepted from politicians today. However, the truth will triumph ultimately. Just think, if everyone spoke the truth, what the world would be like? While you are thinking about that thought, let me finish this article. The Bible reveals that the firstliar was Satan the devil who lied to our parents, Adam and Eve. In our courts there is a continuous battle between the defence lawyers and the prosecuting lawyers to prove who is right or who is wrong at great expense of time and money. The world thrives on lies and the evidence is before our eyes.
Why do people lie? We are born in this wicked evil world which is under the sway of the devil. The Apostle John tells us the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one (1 John 5:19)! What can we expect from the world that is deceived by the devil? Revelation 12:9 says he deceives the whole world! Satan cleverly mixes his lies with a little bit of truth, concealed so conveniently, cunningly and articulately that even Christians may swallow it (2 Corinthians 11:3). Could this be why Christianity is so divided today?
At times in my life I did resort to lies to save my skin and then added more to cover the first. It was because of my desperately wicked and deceitful heart that I did it. Jeremiah 17:9 warns that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. But God has winked at my past (Acts 17:30), has granted me the gift of repentance (Romans 2:4), and has given me a new heart, put a new spirit within me and taken my stony heart away (Ezekiel 11:19).
Now God is my Father, who cannot lie (Titus 1:2; Numbers 23:19). He has made me a new creation in Christ His Son (2 Corinthians 5:17). My Saviour is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). As true Christians, let us follow the truth, in the steps of Jesus Christ, who has set us an example (1 Peter 2:21-22). There is a warning for the liars who will resort to lies. They will end up in the lake of fire where Satan will be (Revelation 21:8; 20:10). That will be the end of lies, because there will
be a new heaven and a new earth and God will dwell with His people. These words are true and faithful.
Prayer
Holy Father, I thank You for Your word, which is the Truth. Help us to live truthful lives in Jesus our Saviour. I make this plea in His worthy name.
