EDITS

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. PROVERBS 4:23 (NIV)

I did not recognise my writing at first because of the edit made to the title, which is perfectly fine by the way. I realise the way I think is not always understood by others. I have a sense of humour that I believe only my daughter catches and understands. Oh, and Jesus gets me of course, and he understands you as well. We are so different in many ways. Our experiences, our makeup in character, our exposure to things all around us make a daily impact. Who I was long ago is so different from who I am now. Edits can be a good thing or a bad thing. I have learned that what we allow into our minds does change us, this is critical. What we allow our eyes to see and what we allow our ears to hear will mold our minds in time. This is why it is so important to guard the minds of our children.

This thought brings me back to the garden of Eden. How perfect everything must have been. The harmony and the beauty must have been like the beating of our hearts; life giving. The children of God grew and blossomed in the stimulating and healthy environment created by God. That is until the seed of doubt planted by that snake Satan in the mind of Eve. She did not have to allow it to linger and grow

there, she did not have to allow it to take root. I have read that if you hear something enough times you begin to believe it. We need to be constantly filtering what is broadcast at us, and mindful of what we broadcast out to others.

Ever since the fall of mankind, there has been a battle for our minds. The predator wants to make our minds like his own; selfish and evil. Jesus wants to remake us like his own, loving, perfect and pure mind. I say remake us, because he made mankind perfect and very good at creation (Genesis 1:31). Without the Spirit of God in us, we are like a leaf tossed by the wind, a victim of the wind’s power, and out of control of where we land. I looked out this morning at the pine needles that were scattered all over the pavement from the power of the wind. They were a long way from where they began, and they did not have much to say about it. The good thing is we do; we have control of where things take our minds. The Spirit of God is our guide within us to filter out those voices in our heads.

I want to fill my mind and heart with Jesus. I trust what he speaks to me, for he speaks of the Father and he speaks what the Father speaks (John 12:49-50). I still need clarification every day from God because the world and its ways keep up their barrage. With the Holy Spirit on our side, we can repel that influence and not allow the lies within, and when it does make it in, God can and will edit it (Hebrews 2:1). There is a lot within me that still needs editing and I am confident that God will do so until I am complete, till his work is complete within me (Philippians 1:6). I must remain open to correction, open for the Spirit to work within me, open to the edits of God.

Prayer I thank you Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit, for your loving work within us all. We want more of you, we want to be like you in all we do, so complete your work within us that you may receive the glory and honour due you. We praise your mighty and glorious name! In Jesus we pray, Amen.
