Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the name of our Servant King, Jesus Christ.
This Sunday is Palm Sunday, and it is the start of what is known as Holy Week. Everything written in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John finds its climax in this week. It is the events of the next 8 days which define Christianity.
The period of Easter Preparation is meant to help us get to a point where the events of this week as recorded in the gospels, can have a lasting impression and profound effect on our faith. Holy Week and the Easter Weekend are special periods for us, and should never be treated like any other period on the calendar. They are not just another week, or just another long weekend. I hope that most, if not all our churches will be having special gatherings throughout the weekend to celebrate these special events.
God willing, Margaret and I will be celebrating the Easter Weekend in Musoma, Tanzania. We will leave on Tuesday and arrive there on Wednesday. Musoma is about four hours by road from the nearest airport. We will spend most of Wednesday on the road to Musoma. Please pray for our safe travel, and for a blessed Easter Conference with our brethren in Tanzania.
My prayer for this week is for each one of us to fully appreciate “how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,” which is manifested in the events of Holy Week. Amen!
PRAYER REQUESTS & UPDATES:
Namibia Floods: Our brethren in the Caprivi strip have been badly affected by the floods this week (second flooding this season) which destroyed many homes. Please remember them in your prayers.
Easter Celebrations: As we count down to the Easter celebrations, please pray that we may all personally and collectively experience God’s goodness that are revealed through the cross and the resurrection. Amen!
Sick Brethren: Please continue to pray for the brethren who are suffering from various sicknesses.
Have a blessed weekend!
Shalom!
Takalani
