Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the name of our Risen Lord, Jesus Christ.
Margaret and I returned on Tuesday from Tanzania, where we spent the Easter weekend. We bring you warm greetings from our brothers and sisters in Musoma. It was a deeply encouraging time of fellowship, and a powerful reminder of what God is doing across our continent.
A highlight of the weekend was the official opening of their church building on Sunday. With representatives from the local government and the teachers from the neighbouring school in attendance, it was more than just a ceremony—it was a testimony. A testimony of faith, perseverance, and a community that chose to act on their vision.
As we enter this Easter season, we are invited to reflect—not passively, but purposefully—on what the resurrection of Jesus Christ means for us today.
The apostle Peter reminds us:
“…It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.” (1 Peter 1:3–4)
The resurrection is not just an event we remember—it is a reality we live in. Because Jesus rose, we have been born again into a new life. We now live with great expectation, not fear. We carry a secure inheritance that cannot be shaken by earthly uncertainty.
The resurrection is not theoretical. It demands a response. Easter calls us to action. It calls us to lift our eyes from temporary pressures and focus on the eternal inheritance that Peter speaks about. I challenges us to invest our lives in what will outlast us; to build—spiritually, and even physically—what will serve generations to come.
The testimony from Musoma challenges us: What are we building in response to the resurrection? I am pleased that our building fund has now reached R1.7 million.
However, as we close the first quarter of 2026, we note that our offerings are currently 5% below budget, and economic pressures may intensify in the coming months. Yet, we do not respond with fear—we respond with faith. God remains our provider.
I want to sincerely thank each one of you who continues to give faithfully and sacrificially. Your giving is not just sustaining the present—it is building the future. It is a declaration that your trust is not in uncertain economies, but in the unchanging God.
Let this Easter season be marked by intentional action:
· Renew your commitment to God
· Re-engage with the mission of the church
· Give generously as God enables you
· Invest your time, your gifts, and your resources in what truly matters
My prayer for all of us this week is that we may not only understand the resurrection—but experience its power, live with its hope, and act with its urgency. Amen!
PRAYER REQUESTS & UPDATES:
Offerings: Please remember to pray for the church’s offerings. We are 5% below budget. I appeal to everyone to consider giving 5% more in their offerings. That means an additional R5 for every R100 of your offerings.
Sick Brethren: Please continue to pray for the brethren who are suffering from various sicknesses.
Have a blessed weekend!
Shalom!
Takalani
